Hi there!  This is my first year trying my hand at "gardening", apartment style.  The only space I have is my balcony.  I just wanted to share what I did and what I am growing this year.

Here is my balcony hanger planter.  It has cress (which you can see growing) and garlic chives (which are just starting to sprout now, but you can't really see it in this picture).  I have a planter underneath that catches the water that drips out.  I am going to put some shade loving flowers down there.  Any ideas for such a flower?

Here is my basil (which hasn't sprouted yet, I'll probably need to replant that one), cilantro, and dill.

Annnnd my shelf that hold basil on the second shelf, and parsley on the top.  The other ones don't have plants in them yet because I have rosemary and thyme in the house in starters that will go in them when they are big enough.  The planter on the ground is oregano.

And that's my apartment garden!  I am super excited to get to incorporate my own grown herbs into my canning and cooking.  If you have any sage (get it, sage?) advice on herb growing to pass my why that would be great.  I am a gardening newbie!  Thanks for looking!

welcome to the wonderful world of container gardening! i've heard herbs are more flavorful if they are allowed to dry out every now and then.

impatiens are also pretty flowers that are fairly low maintenance and LOVE the shade. they come in all kinds of colors and are pretty cheap. I looooove them! And I love your garden too! I am going to be experimenting with apartment-balcony gardening soon also!
