Dumpster Dive (redo a piece of furniture found on side of road, or given to you for free)

Announcing our first Home Sweet Home challenge of 2011 - Dumpster Dive!

Have you ever rescued a sad looking table from the side of the road or an ugly chair from a dumpster?   Is your Mom always trying to offload an ugly bookshelf on you?  Do you have a seriously ugly piece of furniture you've been meaning to redo?  If so, we've got a challenge for you... Dumpster Dive!  The idea is for you to take an ugly piece of furniture (anything will do) and make it fabulous.   Don't worry, you'll have lots of time to work on this, we're going to open a spot for you to post your entries for voting on June 30th.  You're required to show at least before and after photos and anything you've already posted on Craftster is not eligible for this contest.  
The Rules:

- Must have at least 1 before, 1 after picture  Update: A before photo is strongly suggested to show the dramatic transformation, but is not required.

-Must use either and old piece of furniture already in your possession, found on side of road, or given to you for free! Other than that, you can spend as much, or as little   as you want on materials.

-This challenge is open to all Craftster members.

-Each participant may enter one project, it may be a set or a single piece.

-It can be any style or made out of any material as long as it fits the theme

-It has to be a current piece. It cannot be something that you have already made and posted.

-Post your craft during the period of May 28, 2011-June 30, 2011  Extended to July 2, 2011

Yessss! I love diving! Most of my furniture is stuff salvaged from the alley.... People seem surprised that someone would take the time to find/repair stuff. I'm surprised that people will spend lots of money on furniture, then send it to an overflowing landfill even when it is in good condition and there are lots of charities/thrift stores that would take it.... Thanks for making this challenge!

I am with you KnotMad! Almost all of my furniture is found from the side of the road, junk pick-ups or the thrift store. This challenge comes at the best time to motivate me! I have some awesome projects up my sleeve for my new craft room, and this will light a fire under my toosh.

Can you take more than one before and after picture, to capture detail?

Lawn furniture is fine.  You can absolutely include more than two photos!  Before and after are just the bare minimum.

OMG!  I am totally in on this project.  Hubby may roll his eyes all the way back and out of his head if I drag home another discarded piece of furniture, but oh well.......He bought a new truck and is looking at a new boat.  I'm digging for furniture!

Yay!  This is perfect timing for me.  My mom just gave me two of her oldest, wornout, but most treasured pieces of furniture.  So, now I have to decide between revamping a tea table or a sewing cabinet.
