Birds and hearts embroidery

This hoop has just gone to its new home with the lovely Robinpich in a personal swap





It's adapted from a traditional Schwalm embroidery design, from a vintage Anna magazine. I didn't use the traditional drawn or pulled thread techniques though. It's stitched with perle cotton using various stitches (chain, satin, coral, trellis couching, herringbone, and something else).

It was very enjoyable to stitch - and I think Robin likes it too! Would love to hear your comments. Have any of you tried Schwalm work? I'd love to see some here.

- it's very tactile with the perle cotton, and the coral stitch in particular is lovely and nubbly. But don't worry, it's washable! Schwalm embroidery used to be mainly for functional items and clothing.

Wow....just...wow. Very, VERY nice work.  My favorite is the way the big heart in the center is stitched...I'm still a newbie embroiderer, but I think that might be the trellis couching??
