So I moved in with my wonderful boyfriend in October last year... he's a great guy, but his entire house was a sea of tan. So bland and so... boring!

He's on deployment right now and to pass the time I decided I'd do the projects him and I had planned.

Before kitchen: Tan walls, brown valance, and "lovely" FAKE autumn foliage on top of the counters. You could even see the Michaels price tag still attached to them!

View from the living room:

Close up of stove area, we were photoshopping tiles onto the backsplash:

And here's the after (so far!):

I took down the hideous garland and bought cheap vases from the thrift store (YAY FOR UPCYCLING!), and painted them white. I wanted them to look like milk glass. I got all kinds of shapes and sizes, and they look great! I didn't get a picture of the left wall but there are 3 more on the other side as well.
The valance got bumped to a new home in the bathroom, and I made a new one from clearance material. The knick knacks were all cheap too: there's a bird in a birdcage candle holder you can't see too well. I got it from Michaels and sprayed it white to match. The creamer and sugar containers on the stove were 60 cents each at Michaels! The star came from JoAnn's for less than $10.

Super cheap re-do but made a world of difference! We are still going to replace the counter top and tile the back but that'll wait for awhile!

Getting back into crafting! Follow along with me on my blog and see what I come up with! Smiley
