The other day I decided I wanted to make some sort of sea creature, & after a bit of research I decided the Bobtail Squid was the one for me. I wrote down the pattern in case anybody wanted to make one too.

Bobtail Squid
100 yrds Cascade 220 wool
G crochet hook
Polyester stuffing
Small amount of black yarn for eye
Gauge is not essential. All that is important is that it is tight enough that stuffing won’t poke through.
Body: Ch 2. Work 5 sc into the 2nd st of chain.
Row 1: 2 sc in each stitch (10 sts)
Row 2: *2 sc in next stitch, 1 sc, rep from * across (15 sts)
Row 3: *2 sc in next stitch, 2 sc, rep from * across (20 sts)
Row 4: *2 sc in next stitch, 4 sc, rep from * across (25 sts)
Row 5: *2 sc in next stitch, 5 sc, rep from * across (30 sts)
Sc 10 rows without increasing.
**Work following row into the front loops only** Next row: Sc across without increasing.
**Work following row into the back loops of the same row, thus creating a ridge** Next row: Sc 2 tog, sc 4, rep from * across (25 sts)
Next row: Sc 2 tog, sc 3, rep from * across (20 sts)
Sc 5 rows without decreasing.
Tentacles: *3 sl st, ch 15, turn, skip 1st ch, work 14 sc into chain, rep from * across row. End with a sl st. There should be 8 tentacles. Tie off.
Bottom: Ch 2. Work 5 sc into 2nd st of ch.
Row 1: 2 sc into each st (10 sts)
Row 2: *2 sc into next st, 1 sc, rep from * across row (15 sts)
Row 3: *2 sc into next st, 2 sc, rep from * across row (20 sts)
Tentacles: Turn,* ch 28, skip 3 ch, 4 dc, sc 21*, 3 sl st rep from * to *. End with a sl st. There should be 2 tentacles. Tie off.
Eyes (Make 2): Ch 2. Work 5 sc into 2nd st of ch.
Row 1: 2 sc into each st (10 sts)
Row 2: *2 sc into next st, 1 sc, rep from * across row (15 sts)
Tie off. Embroider pupil with black onto eye.
Mantle (Make 2): Ch 11.
Row 1: 10 Sc.
Row 2: Sc2tog, sc to last 2 sts, sc 2 tog.
Rep 2nd row until 3 sts remain.
Next row: Sc3tog.
Tie off.
Sew eyes on either side of the head, just above the tentacles. Sew mantle to either side of upper head. Stuff, and close bottom, making sure the longer tentacles are in the front.
I haven't had the pattern tested yet, so let me know if there any errors.
