MAY GRANNY-A-DAY

This is basically a motivation crochetalong. If you want to work on a granny square, motif, one huge granny square blanket, this is a great way to set aside time everyday to get some serious work completed in an attainable amount of time.

People have come up with some really neat uses for grannys too! Different bags and blankets, shopping sack holder, slippers, scarves, a nifty pullover etc. I have made 7" grannys and after a month I have 30 squares that make a perfect size throw blanket.

If you are intrested and would like to join we would love to see your work! Post pics of progress and then at the end of the month post a pic of al that you accomplished! It would be great if everyone could post progress weekly (but not required). At the end of the month we can piece together our work and show off our afghans and Inga bags and whatever else you can come up with to make with nifty grannies! (Must post a completed project or progress pic in this thread.)

You can find many of the other threads in the crochet-a-long section to see how we have done it before!

Awesome! I'm up to 66 squares for the babyghan. I'm so happy with how it's turning out. I just hope my friends like it.

Am I too late to join for May?

I'm planning on making a Mario granny square blanket for my nephew for Christmas and so far have only managed like 5 squares  Sad I have recently started selling my crocheted creations on Facebook and they have kept me far too occupied over the last couple of weeks.

If I can cram in more than one square a day it would be amazing!

Here is my pattern thing....

..can't add pictures at the moment but will as soon as I can  Smiley

You can join in anytime...we all have lots of crafting going on...=]  Congrats on your F/B business! And you have to start somewhere w/a project...so crochet when you can and share the pics, too!

I've gotten 100 granny's daughters completed since last night...that is the first round of the granny only...not as impressive as it sounds.  Time to do some housework... Tongue

Wow! 100 granny's daughters in a night? That's crazy.

I have 3 more squares for the babyghan since last time.

And i just made a pair of granny square slippers.
12 squares:
Top and bottom:
And on:

This might show the colors best... my camera is dead, and it's hard to get the colors to show right with my phone...

Love the colors of your slippers and the baby blanket!  You're making great progress, bananaleg!  =]
Making the squares is easy...putting the rows together and added takes a bit of time...=]

It's a good thing we like this stitching stuff, huh!  Cheesy

Hope you catch on and enjoy granny square making as much as the rest of us...=]

I'm finished w/swap squares and want to use up further yarn...I see more granny's coming. Unfortunately I won't be able to post pics until I'm finished house-sitting for my sister... Tongue

It's going pretty good, but I have had a lot of time to work on them. I only got to work from About 8:50-9:00PM to make only one!): I hope I can get a lot more of them done!

bananaleg...how's everything? have you decided how you're going to join your squares...done experiments w/differnt ways to  join?
were the yarn scraps going to work for you?  I'm saving up small ones from all the granny making to make monsters...=]  I don't have many longer ones yet.
Have a good weekend!!

I'm thinking I'll single crochet them together unless I happen to find something else I like better.. And yes, the scraps will totally work!

I'm going to do this! I've wanted to make a blanket for a long, long time, and my current shell-stitch blanket I've been making has demotivated me so much. So, this is a great way to get all that stitching motivation back again!

I'll probably post up once a week with the squares of that week. Unsure yet if I'm going to do all matching squares or not. If they're all matching, I may just post a final picture.

Excellent...glad to have more granny stitchin' Craftsters join the CaL...=]

I'm finally seeing the bottom of my scrap bag!  Just finished w/the swap squares and enough to make the same for my own projects...27 squares to make 3 cushions for the little people to use here at my sister's.  I'm also part of the destash group!

Show pics when you can...I will next week when I'm home again...

Afghan looks great Bananaleg and I love the slippers, How do they feel stepping on the clusters? is it like a mini foot massage?

Kittymom cool joining on the daughters!

I haven't touched a granny since the beginning of the month and around the same time my camera took a hiatus from taking clear pics :/. I started an offset granny for Project Linus, but hubby wants it so I started another instead in all sherbert like colors for them, it works out better this way because Project Linus likes no spaces afghans. We ordered a new camera so next month I can participate more in the CAL with pics.

Hope everyone had a great May!
