Hi all,

I made this quilt for my best friend who is having her first baby. It is baby SEASON! this is the 3rd baby quilt I've made in the last 2 months! I love to give something one of a kind for baby gifts.

This one is for my friend who doesn't like anything too cutesy... plus she doesn't know what she's having so I kept it neutral. I've seen several tree themed quilts recently and they got my creativity flowing.

I used strips of different brown fabrics that I cut into wavy limb-like shapes. I machine appliqued them over a rectangularish piece of brown flannel that I had sewn a bunch of varied pintucks. I think it really looks like bark with those tucks (photos don't really do it justice)!

For the foliage I appliqued some of the leaves completely down and the rest are handsewn onto the quilt only halfway using a blind stitch. The leaves hold their position but can flip and flop like real leaves would.

I think this is one of the best quilts I've ever made! I can't wait to give it to my friend at her shower in June!

Thanks for looking!

C&C welcomed
Here's pics...

That looks great. The bark looks quite realistic. As someone who doesn't like things too cutesy myself I think you've hit just the right tone for the baby quilt.

This is gorgeous! I would love to have that and I no longer have babies in the house! Your friend (and the little one) is going to be thrilled with it!

I think the baby will like the fact that some of the leaves flop around. My son had something similar when he was a baby.

great job! The baby should appreciate the texture of the bark and the 3Dness of the leaves Smiley

The twisty bark and different fabrics makes this so absolutely authentic looking!
