The nerd club was going to be at my house for a party so it seemed like a good time to make a robot table runner.

They were followed a few short hours later by the drama club.... thus the need for some dramatic pillows.

The details... both the robots and the cat actor designs were from Embroidery Library.  The robot runner is about 60 inches long and 14 inches wide.  The design is stitched on muslin and the fabric is quilter's cotton.  The red robots should have been hot pink, but I didn't find the fabric until after I had stitched out both ends.  It is backed with muslin.  The machine quilting was in random straight and wavy lines with metallic silver thread.

The cats were stitched on muslin.  The border and binding fabric is a batik.  The binding pillows are put together exactly like making a quilt except that you leave the batting (pillow form) out until you are done and the back is two overlapping, hemmed pieces of fabric.  I love doing it that way, because it gives the appearance of cording or knife edges using a technique I understand.

Ah.  So the robots on the runner are more apropos even than for "general"  nerdiness. Smiley
