I DID IT! I DID IT! I made a dress! yahoooooooooooooooooooo!



its not perfect but for my first try i am pretty proud!
I didnt use a pattern but followed this craftster tute http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=115074.0, without straps

the zipper rolls a lil funny about half way down... i dunno if its because i didnt iron it well of if its because i should make the dress tighter? any thoughts?

If you wanted to fix the pucker in the back, i think the best bet is to use some boning. You can be the already incased ones from joanns, and that why you won't have to make a little casing and you just either hand sew or machine sew it in.

I think the dress looks great, and it doesn't seem like you need a lot of structure for it anyway, so I would skip the boning part altogether because that just makes things complicating.

I don't think boning is going to solve the bulging issue.  You just need to take a horizontal dart out of the back, so that the shape of the dress conforms to the small of your back.  If you have a bodice/skirt combination, then it's a matter of removing the zip, shortening the bodice at the back, re-attaching the bodice to the skirt and re-installing the zipper, problem solved. 

Feel free to PM me if it isn't clear and I can maybe sketch out a short tute for you.  I get this problem all the time with most commercial patterns.  It's annoying, but an easy fix.
