I modeled this after a picture I found on Wired.com about the largest fossilized spider found to date. It was such a striking image that I felt the urge to reproduce it in glass. I'll probably experiment with other techniques over the summer with this image. Overall I'm very pleased with this attempt, but it was fraught with bubble problems/challenges. I cut out heavy duty aluminum foil in the shape of the spider and glued them down between two pieces of clear glass. The first firing produced some bubbles that were gorgeous and some that collapsed into themselves and were therefore very frail. I ended up firing this piece 4 times total, and there is still some devit that I need to deal with. But overall it's creepy cool! Enjoy!

I like her. Can I keep her, if I promise to love her very much? Wink

Thank you all! It's really interesting (to me, at least) how the aluminum foil turns both silver and gold in the kiln. So bubbly, so strange, so unpredictable!
