I saw this effect on a show from Utilisima (a latinamerican crafts-or-kind-of channel)

We Need:

-Eggshells
-Glue
-Paint of your choise
-Surface of choise (can be almost anything...on the show, they decorate a flower vase, so pick your thing)
-And some music or show to watch while you work...jeje (i was watching House MD, 6 season Cheesy)

LETS GET STARTED!!!

Ok, so...First of all, obviously, you have to wash the eggshell...take off the thin skin on the inside...to do that, you put them under water like 10 minutes, and start to pull away that skin...and when you finish, let the eggshells get dry...im sorry i dont haver pics of that...i totally forgot....

Now...clean your surface, and put some glue on it...then crack the eggshell and push it to crack it more on the glued surface....

When you're done, it has to look like this...if is not, dont worry...this is art, and you can make it the way you want Cheesy

Then, is the fun part.....haha, what am i saying..this is all fun!!! jeje......Let's Paint!!!!!

Try to cover all the little corners...

The last step is a second paint, but this time...its like water with a drop of pain....because this is for the background, to make it darker, and make some depht effect..
This watery paint is in ALL the surfacer and eggshells, but try to put some more on the cracks...then youll have that darker effect....Also if you want the background on other color, you paint the surface before to start pasting the eggshells (you can paint this ones before put them on the glue)
Here's mine...my camera is not that nice with my crafts, but you can see the cool effect we get!!

Use your imagination..this depends of what you want, or need...Make it and show me..i would love to see your work!! Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Very cool! I bet the texture feels as neat as it looks. Thank you for the tutorial!

I love the idea of using this technique for dragon scales. I hope someone tries that and posts it here Smiley.

Very nice - I love this effect. This is a craft from back in the day (tells you how old I am). This would also look cool on paper mache boxes or vases.

I'm actually making a box right now for my D&D characters & dice (to take to games, so a lot of travel) & am wondering how well this finish holds up? do the eggs crack if they get pushed on or is there enough glue underneath to close any gaps?

I LOVE this idea & if it will stand the wear it'll be perfect for my dragon-hide covered box! Cheesy

This is wicked, reminds me of really thick, old leather. It would be awesome on the cover of a notebook, but isn't it pretty fragile?

I agree with everyone who said it looks like dragon scales! How cool would it be to fashion some kind of dragon eye looking out of the cover? Or would that just be creepy?

I have been saving egg shells for the compost pile, and I might have a chipboard journal around here somewhere, so I can give this a try in the near future.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks to all for the comments...i love the idea of the clay dragon on it, but this is my dairy notebook, so it can have anything fragil...and for the fragil comment: if you glue it a lot, all the thing stay on its place Cheesy
