Inspired by all the craftsters on here that paint their shoes, I decided to experiment with some old white pumps that i never wear. I put them in the washing machine to remove dirt, then set about deciding what I wanted to paint onto them.
Oil painting is my first love, so I decided the sistine cherubs would look cute, googled for a reference (http://www.oceansbridge.com/paintings/artists/special/raphael-sistine-cherub.jpg) and got to work.

Here are the shoes before I started

With a coat of white acrylic as a base

First layers and beginning of cherubs

Progress, shading, wings etc

Final outcome (sorry about the shine from my flash)

I was going to use textile medium with my paints, but ended up just using the acrylic paints alone as I didn't expect them to turn out that good. May or may not seal them as I never really wear this kind of shoes.

They look as if they're looking up at you and are distinctly unimpressed. If it were me they'd be saying "She's got a huge hole in those tights but the skirt covers it so she thinks no one notices. She's forgotten about us hasn't she?" Shocked Grin
