This project is definitely my baby. It took hours buying all the buttons as they're bought in no less than seven different thrift shops in two different cities, and hours stitching them all onto the fabric, but I'm so pleased with the result that I don't care. I counted the buttons before I started and I had, uhm, 214 I think. Only a handful were left when I was finally done.

The base is just a very simple bag made from a sturdy black fabric stitched into a little bag. The buttons are black, grey and metal buttons of various sizes, shapes and kinds and I've stuck religiously to this colorscheme except for the one pink heart-shaped button that I just had to have. After all the buttons had been applied I had to line it in leather to stiffen it and as a finish the zipper and silver lining was added. The lining has a cell phone pocket, but other than that it's pretty simple.

The materials I used for this project:

Ooooh! I love it! The simplicity of the bag really lets the buttons take centre stage and the tiny heart is such a lovely individual touch. Smiley

This clutch really started off my passion for buttons - now I see excuses to use buttons as often as possible. While this bag was kind of subdued with the dark neutral colors it could be really fun to make a more rainbow colored version one day.

Haha, well I never thought of it like that, but you're right! I guess I just figured I wouldn't want my things to fall out if I accidentally tossed the clutch around.

That's fantastic!  I love buttons, in fact, I ran off with my Grandma's button collection when I left for college and haven't given it back yet.

I really like how this came out.  It's really pretty and unique at the same time.

Oooh- I love this! I'm a fiend for buttons anyway. I'd love to make one in rainbow colors.
Also, I love that it has a silver lining! It's like the "secret optimist clutch of buttony goodness".
I may have had too much caffeine this morning.  Cheesy
