As soon as I saw this month's challenge (or rather April's) I decided to make a mobile.  I started by googling earth mobiles and to my surprise nothing came up...a first for me.  So I settled in and thought about what celebrating earth day is really about to me and I decided on love.  We must respect and love the earth and each other.

I decided that everything used for the project had to be stash items or free.  I have way too much felt so it seemed the best choice.  Trying to get felt to lay flat on a round surface is not easy...at least not for me and then to add glittering to the mix...it was almost too much for me.  I reworked the earth part of this project a few times.  Embarrassed  Then came the people.  I had a lot of fun with all the different colors and since I went with love as a sort of theme I decided each person needed a heart. As it is all about earth day I decided to used a branch from my back yard at the mobile mechanism.

What I did not take into consideration when making this project was the difficulty of trying to capture it with a camera.

My continents are not perfect but I did really try to get the general shape.

Getting all the people to be at the same length was difficult because the branch I used was not even at all.

Love this so much! The whole concept of love behind it, it's almost like people giving the planet a hug. It's beautiful!

This is lovely! All the differently coloured people make it feel very happy, and I imagine the slight movement you get (it is a mobile after all) will make it look like they are dancing around the earth.
