my mom had an african sennigal (sp?) for 4 yrs.  the bird would not shut up.  Angry at 5AM every morning, regardless of the day, it would sing off-key "I LEFT MY HEAAARRTTT IN SAN FRAN" and would never add the "SISCO".

Was this bird's name Floyd by any chance? I know someone who had a "second-hand" parrot that did exactly this, I'm wondering if this is the same bird... how freaky would that be? Smiley

Awesome use of an old table cloth!  My roommate has to finches that we use old sheets to over their cage.  It's impossible to find a cage cover in a store to fit the cage, because we made the cage ourselves.  Smiley  We should make a cover for them too...  They deserve better than the old Barbie sheets they have now.

maybe they renamed it.  my mom's bird name was rusty--our last name is nail.  get it?  Roll Eyes

here's my other bird story:

i used to know a woman who had a little bird that talked.  it would ride on one of her cat's back (the dumb cat) and say in the most sinister voice, "here...kit-ty...kit-ty...ki-tty..."  and the cat would look left, right, and do a circle but never figured out where the voice was coming from.

apparently the bird flew away some years later and was never found again.

and you're right, birds are extremely neurotic.  after posting that last story, i called my mom and asked her what was up with the bird and she said the vet said the same thing--it was either bored, someone teased it and it went crazy (temporarily), or it was addicted to plucking things and we should get a broom.  i remember my mom did get a broom to put in it's cage.

so, like, have you made the bird tv yet??   Cheesy
