Monstrous Mug Rug

the fabulous teachart noticed my whining regretfull thoughts about missing the matchbox swap sign ups, and very kindly ask me if I'd like to swap with her.  I jumped at the chance, of course. She and I have swapped before, and we seem twisted in a similar direction . We agreed to swap "practical" stuffies as well.  I knew right away what I wanted to do.



It was fun to make.  I just picked a mug of mine with a big base, and sat it in the middle of a piece of paper.  I drew around it to make the shape I wanted, adding enough space to put a few treats with your cuppa.  I did it "paper bag" style....meaning I laid it out with the right sides of fabric together, and then batting on one of the out side layers, then the pattern. Cut it out, then sew around the shape near the outside edge, leaving room to turn it. OH yeah...put the face on before you do all of that....Then press it and free motion all over it. Super easy

This is awesome!  I totally need to make some for my house!  Maybe I can get my family to use them as coaster???!!!!  But that would require them to use a coaster.

I am the proud owner of this mug rug and I love him so much! He's been a fantastic companion to my morning coffee, but I must admit that he likes to get a little wild and doubles as a beer rug at night!
