the fabulous teachart noticed my whining regretfull thoughts about missing the matchbox swap sign ups, and very kindly ask me if I'd like to swap with her.  I jumped at the chance, of course. She and I have swapped before, and we seem twisted in a similar direction Grin. We agreed to swap "practical" stuffies as well.  I knew right away what I wanted to do.

It was fun to make.  I just picked a mug of mine with a big base, and sat it in the middle of a piece of paper.  I drew around it to make the shape I wanted, adding enough space to put a few treats with your cuppa.  I did it "paper bag" style....meaning I laid it out with the right sides of fabric together, and then batting on one of the out side layers, then the pattern. Cut it out, then sew around the shape near the outside edge, leaving room to turn it. OH yeah...put the face on before you do all of that....Then press it and free motion all over it. Super easy
Thanks for looking Grin

To all past swap partners....If something I made you fell apart in some way, it would be helpful to me if you PMed me and told me about it.  Sometimes, I try new things, and if they fail, it helps me to know

This is awesome!  I totally need to make some for my house!  Maybe I can get my family to use them as coaster???!!!!  But that would require them to use a coaster.

So require them to use a monster instead of a coaster Grin

I am the proud owner of this mug rug and I love him so much! He's been a fantastic companion to my morning coffee, but I must admit that he likes to get a little wild and doubles as a beer rug at night!  Grin

That is flattering for sure!  I bet you'll get the hang of it quickly.  It is hard at first becasue the faster one sews, the easier it is to keep things even.  Some folks say they all ways have a glass of wine before they machine quilt LOL.  It relaxes them enough to just jump in and go.  I was an OK machine quilter, but I decided to make myself a better one.  What I did was I made "sandwiches" of fabric no one wanted and messed up bats that my quilt guild was giving me.  I made 12 or 20 of those all at once.  I tried to not waste too much time cutting so I made them all sizes, just matching fabrics by size not look.  Then in one day, I would quilt as many as I could.  I would practice all kinds of different shapes and things.  I also tried doing at least one a day, till I had a stack.  Then I would bind them some how (Mostly just rolling over the edges and sewing them down.  Or binding and zigzagging that down.) and give them to the local animal shelters.  They all ways need bedding.  No one cares what they look like, and you can still feel like your doing something good.  I made approx. 20 pet bedding units a month for about a year and 1/2 and now I'm a LOT more confident with my stitching Grin
