My first non-knit/felt hat! I love it and manged to make it way on the cheap (like $2 total cost), woohoo!

For the base I used plastic mesh canvas (love this stuff) instead of the traditional buckram. It's then covered in a polka-dot stamped vinyl remnant piece. I "cheated" and hot glued it down versus sewing as it was so thick.

It's fully lined with a proper hat/headsize band and bobby pins attached for wearing.

This photo taken at Christmas for a 1950's themed Xmas party. I attached a little veil I also had made as part of a mini top hat awhile back.

Neat! I love vintage hats but can never find any that go with my clothes. Thanks for the step-by-step! A pillbox is quite flattering with your lovely hairstyle--I'm way jealous. Well done!
