So yesterday DGD #1 shows up with this super short, hootchy mama, denim skirt on. Her Pappy and I were not pleased and I informed her that before she went home that skirt would either be in the trash or redone into something I would let her leave the house in Smiley

Sooooooo, we cut the bottom hem off the skirt and I added a 6" ruffle of cute heart fabric that matched the printed hearts on the skirt. Then I took a RTW tee shirt and using the same heart fabric did a reverse applique heart on the shirt. She now has a "new" outfit out of an old skirt that was WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too short !

She loves the new look and is thrilled that her Pappy approves too !

She loves it thankfully Smiley She learned it doesn't have to be short to be stylin' LOL

I do need to do some sets of these up, she wore it to DH's work tonight to say hi and I had probably 5 women ask WHERE they could get a set like that lol

I love it too!  This would be a great way to repurpose some jeans my daughters have worn out.  Did you actually ruffle the bottom part or is it just a straight piece of fabric attached to the denim?

I love that you corrected her lovingly and showed a way to express her style and be cute without being inappropriate.  I'm not sure where that got lost on the way but more adults need to take a stand!   Wink

I did a gather/ruffle on the serger. It doesn't ruffle real well on a woven like that, I should have used a light knit fabric that ruffles fantastic. Either that or play with my serger settings LOL It does have more of a ruffle than you can see in the photo though.

I dont' know what happened to little girls being little girls anymore either Sad Makes me crazy to see 7,8, and 9 year olds dressed like someone in their 20s ! So I just use her enjoyment of sewing with me to modify her wardrobe whenever I can LOL

I think she looks way more cool now!
(Well, of course she already looked cool herself, but now her clothes are awesome too.)
