These pieces are from a Raku firing we did in my ceramics class. They are all wheel thrown and then hand carved.

This first one was a simple bowl that I added abstract trees to. I was actually really impressed with the way the carvings came out. The glaze was supposed to be Copper Luster, but apparently it wasn't mixed correctly.

Next is a fruit bowl. For this one I printed out some flower pictures and used those as a template for the carvings.

The next two are my favorites. This is another fruit bowl. The glaze was Red Blue Green, which normally has some really gorgeous results. The scrollwork on the outside is something that I doodle a lot.

Last is a larger bowl with an abstract peacock in a tree. Next to the peacock is a crescent moon shining over mountains. I used a Pipenburg oil luster glaze on this one.

C&C welcome!

Great job! I love these! I think the finishes are really amazing! That scroll work must have taken you quite some time! Love them all!!! Cheesy

Great pieces I really love the almost lustre look they have. I've never tried Raku, what did you think of the firing process?

I always have fun with Raku firings. This is not my first time by a long shot. The class instructor actually lets me help with the firings, which is pretty neat. Next time I'm going to try a naked Raku firing. I thought the effect was interesting.
