My daughter turned 18 yesterday, and YES, as a matter of fact, I DID make her some stuffed animals for her birthday!!  She has a beautiful white cat with one green eye and one blue eye; she loves that cat more than anything! We got it from the shelter a few months ago.  So I knew I wanted to make a stuffie of her kitty.  But she also keeps saying (teasingly) "Wouldn't it be great if we had a black cat to go with our white cat?"  So I made the black cat too!

They were simple to make because there are so few details.  It's just a half-oval for the body, front and back, and triangles for the ears, plus a strip for the tail and an oval for the bottom.  The fabric is fleece, with felt for the ear linings.  I put wire in the tail so it can be posed.  To keep them from being "tippy", I after stuffing them, I put a small beanbag of poly pellets into the opening at the bottom before sewing it closed.  They have a pleasing weight to them and always sit up straight!

The most important thing about the white kitty was the different colored eyes; I planned ahead and bought the eyes on ebay.

Yes, my daughter loves them, and she is planning to take them with her to college in the fall!

Aww! They are so tutie! I agree about about stuffed animals, too. I just made one for my 13 year old daughter, and earlier for my 15 year old son. I'm working on a couple for myself, though the kids will probably try to steal them. I have them hidden for now.  Grin

It is better to have crafted and failed then never to have crafted at all.
Yes, I am stalking the Toys and Playthings board. Thanks for noticing!
I'm cheating on Craftster with Pinterest. It's ok though. There's overlap.

They are about six inches tall, not including the ears. The second picture shows one in my hand to give an indication of the scale.

Oh Leslie--they are fabulous!!! Even though, as you said, they don't have a lot of detail, they DO have a ton of personality!
