Hi Selina, I ran out of time last night before I could welcome you via private message.  It's nice to see you've contributed with a quote already.

Here's my share:  Adham Shaikh is one of my favorite artists.  His music is totally worth buying and this track in particular makes for a good rise to the day.  I recommend high quality speakers and high volume.

Also, does anyone have any experience with shamanism?  My boyfriend and I are taking part in a Basic Shamanism retreat early June.  I'm hoping to be able to incorporate that with Reiki.

What sort of shamanism is the retreat focusing on? My husband is a Native American tradition shamanist. You can find them all over the world and the practices vary a bit based on the culture, which is why I asked.

That track is really chill.  Good find.  There must be decent festivals in your area?  What else do you listen to?  I've been really into Bahramji as of late.

Hmm.  Good question.  I personally don't know much about shamanism.  It's really my boyfriend who has more interest and proposed the retreat idea.  But you had me read more into The Edge's website (http://www.shamanismcanada.com).  It seems the founders evolved into their own little branch but otherwise I haven't come up with any information.  I do enjoy drumming though and hopefully I'll manage to do some journeying.  Do you have any recommendations for literature or music?

well the guinea pigs love our budhist chants meditation cd - they bubble along to it - so sweet x x x I really like mike oldfield too http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2vTKzyt07o&feature=related ANYTHING by him is fab!!! In terms of festivals I have only been to one when I was alot younger - like 13 - with my friend and her family,  I am not really into festivals.   I do more craft fairs that focus on spiritual and holistic wellbeing.  They are great as you get to meet some really fab people with the same interests that dont think you are a bit kooky or a scary witch lol!  As I am a teacher I have to be careful what i say to people as in uk schools they only teach the 5 main religions with spirituality being the 6th.  But I find it quite interesting how Religious Education in the uk has been taken off the curriculum to make way for a new qualification called the ebacc.  Basic subjects of english, maths, science, history or geography and a language are essential. My subject Design and Technology (textiles) has been shrunk drastically as with art and RE. Its shocking I think as 'to be human is to create' and creating is spiritual!  Hey ho - rant over and soap box tucked away (but still in easy reach)  Wink

Thanks for the music links.  There are a few festivals in Florida that I've been too, so far ParaLounge is my favorite.  It's a big drum circle gathering.  Everyone gets together and plays, dances and sings. There are workshops for drumming, dancing and meditation/yoga.  http://paralounge.net/   In Southern Florida there are different festivals for the seasons, they are so fun.  My cat used to love being my Reiki helper but now that she's on a journey I've missed our healing time.

I'm not going to be able to participate in this one, after all, but I've learned quite a bit from you (thanks for the music links!) and will keep following!
