This is my first topic!  Yay!  I had a hard time deciding what would be my first I would share, so I think I'll start off cute!

A year ago I tried making a sock monkey for my niece's 1st birthday.  I had make pigs, zebras, and cats from the Stray Sock Sewing book and was inspired to make a monkey.  My niece loves monkeys!  Here is the finished project.



I think I ended up using three different thigh/knee high socks that I got from Target.  They have some really fun designs for a great price.  The heel of one of them happened to be red and worked out perfect for his mouth.  He has big black buttons for eyes and beads for the nose.  I hand stitched most of it, including one of the arms and then decided that it would take waaaaay less time if I used the sewing machine.  I stitched on a thick felt heart and then made him a knifty knitted scarf.  I didn't attach the scarf just in case she wanted to take it off.  Monkey achieved!  ^_^

This guy is adorable. I love the look on his face, he's way cuter then most sock monkeys (maybe it's the pink).
