I had these metallic spirally things (about $2 for a pack of 25) - the flat pendant is stitched together with invisible thread, and the second is linked together spiral to spiral.  Smiley

Oooh - you could definitely make your own spirals. I however have no talent for that sort of thing, so my fingers are safer using prefashioned metals. Smiley
