I am a huge sucker for video game crafts. When I saw a Tetris quilt on my partner's wists for the Crafty Detective Round 7 swap, I knew I had to make it. It ended up taking much longer than I had anticipated, but after a few late nights I finished it just in time to ship.

Dimensions: approx 50 x 70
Pattern: Great tutorial from QuilterGeek
Fabrics: All calicos from JoAnn Fabrics

Just in case you're curious: there are 1,482 pieces in this quilt! (Each block has 13 pieces.) My rotary cutter was practically smoking by the time I was done.

Over 1400 Pieces!  Shocked
Your hard work shows in the details.  This quilt is BEAUTIFUL and I love the theme.
Would it be possible to post a close-up of an individual block?  I ask because I'm trying (and failing) to picture how 13 pieces come together.

 Shocked WOW

It's a masterpiece! It's so amazing! I'd love to have something tetris-like myself.

How did you make the shadows? Did you use another fabric? Would be great if you could make a small tut.

You can really be proud of your work. It's really worth it!

I can't provide a close up of the block because it has already winged its way across the Atlantic Ocean... but QuilterGeek has a great diagram in her tutorial that shows the block. Essentially it's a nine patch, but the corner blocks are made up of half square triangles.

The 3-D shadow effect is achieved by using 5 different fabrics per block -- all of one color, but varying shades. The lady at the cutting counter must have thought I was nuts when I showed up with 35 different fabrics, asking for 1/4 yard cut of each!

Best tetris quilt I've seen! Love the 3D effect.  Amazing how many pieces you used.

Awesome. I wouldn't have been able to mail it off. Your partner was super lucky.
