I saw a posting about making rings out of coins. I had to try it.

I can never find a ring to fit my thumb. So I used a half dollar to make one.

You can still see "United states of america" on the inside.

I dont know how the others got their rings to look so smooth and polished, mine is kind of rough looking but I like it.

It depends on the technique you used to make your ring. If you use an actual silver coin and tap it with a spoon you can get a beautiful shiny hammered look to your ring. You could also try using a buffer or polisher on a dremel and it may shine it up a bit.

My bf has stolen this ring, he wears it as a pratice wedding band and he is constantly cleaning it with steal wool so it is really shiny and smooth now. He wants me to make his wedding band out of a 1960 silver half dollar(the year his mom was born)

I think it looks great, I would never have the patience to do this myself.

It surprisingly didnt take all that long. The next one i make will be my bf wedding band, we got the 1960 half dollar he wanted, he carries it around in his wallet until its time to make it since he hasnt actually proposed yet.  Cheesy
