Okay... so I'm a total Gleek and really wanted to stitch something up while I was waiting on tonight's new episode. But I didn't want to do anything that SCREAMED 'Glee'. So I stitched up this little good-bye to Pavarotti... because 'Original Songs' was an AMAZING episode. Smiley

The bird/cage image I found for free online and free-handed it on the fabric. I watched two movies while I was stitching, so it didn't take long to do. The flash made the yellow super-bright... it's actually a little more subtle. Smiley

As always- constructive criticism is always welcome... I'm still learning here. Smiley

Ah, a great piece of embroidery inspired by a great episode - that was the one which aired this week in the UK, and I agree, it was fab.

I particulalrly love your lettering - any tips on how to get it so neat?

For the lettering I find a font I like online and then type up what I want to say in that font... print it out... then use carbon transfer paper to trace the text out on the fabric. You don't get all the details, but you get the basic shape of the letters and the spacing.

Plus- I love doing lettering. Smiley

Sometimes. With this one I sketched the cage/bird on with pencil before I started to stitch. If I'm doing something really detailed I'll sometimes plan it out on my computer and then use the transfer paper... because I'm not an artist. Smiley

I really love your idea of planning it out on the computer.  I am also not an artist, but that might just work for me.  Also, the lettering is very nice.  Overall, awesome!
