So I've been wanting to create something with cherry blossoms as the subject for quite some time.  This last Friday night while relaxing with my guy and wathcing movies, I busted out some felt, embroidery floss, scissors, a needle and went to work.  I pulled out my phone googled up an image of cherry blossoms and worked from that.  I intended to make a little pattern, but it didn't quite work out because the blossoms ended up being so tiny (about the tip of my pinky finger).  I was going to stitch this up into a little coin purse (that's why I cut it into a triangle shape), but my guy thought that the felt would probably not last so long being thrown around in someones purse and with all my little stitches maybe I should do something else with it.  I may frame it or make up a little tote bag or something to apply it to. Still not sure.  So, I just drew on my felt squares with a pen and then cut for the blossoms, for the single petals and leaves I just cut directly and didn't bother drawing them first.  I used backstitch to get the branches started, then went over them with a sort of zig zag stitch.  I wanted to give the branches some dimension.  I used french knots for the centers.  I think I'm actually not finished, want to stitch a bit more detail on the calyx of a couple of the blossoms.  I should have taken a picture of how I intended it to look...folded up, in 3 parts kinda...the front of the coinpurse, split in 2 as the top of the closure and the bottom and then the back.  I had the petals falling on both sides.  Well, thank you for looking.

that is lovely!  I think maybe if you bound the edges and used some good quality interfacing it might be a bit tougher. It's so nice, you need to use it for something!

I can't tell if the size is right, but it looks like this would make a lovely cuff bracelet. Nice job.

You guys are all so great!! Thank you for the kind words Cheesy.  I love the idea sharing!! Really dig the idea of a cuff bracelet!  Can't wait to get home and see if the length works for that.  These cherry blossoms remind me of home - California orchards of yesteryear.  My friend at work said they remind her of D.C.
