Not-as-many-ends-as-it-looks baby blanket

After making what seems like 27 million of the Spiral Hexagon blanket pattern, I realised just how much I love getting the look of stripes without having a tonne of ends to weave in. 

In this blanket, you get the look of a bunch of little squares without having quite so many ends to weave in.



It's based on the same idea as "entrelac" though I wouldn't really consider this to be the same sort of project.  Basically, you make a line of tilted boxes and then make another line of tilted boxes on top of it. (I don't consider it to be entrelac because the stitches in the boxes all run in the same direction, and it doesn't have that "woven" look.)



I forgot to measure it while it was all laid out like this, but I think it's between 30-36 inches square

I used Bernat Satin (what else would I use? ), in the colours "Rouge" and "Warm Glow Ombre".

I'm ordinarily not a huge fan of variegated yarns, but I like how that yarn looks with the solid and how it created a stripe or two in each "block." Is it Tunisian crochet?
