I adjusted some patterns. The orange top on the elf outfit is the top of the easy peasy dress done wider (to accommodate bustiness) and longer. It laces up the back.   The skirt is just a rectangle with strips sewn on to it, that I then folded in half and sewed up to hide the tops of the strips. It ties shut with ribbon.

The top of the burnt orange dress is the top of the 50s style halter dress (again enlarged a bit) with a simple circle skirt for the bottom. The bustle is something contrived by necessity and I guess I could explain but is kind of strange. I'll try and explain if someone really wants to know.

OK. I'll try and give an explanation that will make sense. If something doesn't just let me know.

I was originally going to make a second circle skirt (only shorter) out of the orange material to go over the top of the burnt orange skirt. (It was going to lace up on each side like a corset so I needed two halves of a skirt.) So I cute out 4 circle skirt pieces. (I did four so there wouldn't be any seams showing.) I sewed 2 pieces right sides together and then turned them inside out. I then gathered the top so it would be the right waist size. I held it up to the dress and decided a didn't like it. So I began to mess around with it a bit. I gathered it all the way so the two corners of the top of the skirt touched.  So it looked like this (apart from my bad Paint drawing skills.)

Next I took the two ends and folded them down. So it looked like this.

I thought that looked a little bare so I grabbed one of the remaining circle skirt pieces I had cut (all with raw edges) and scrunched it up. Sticking it in the middle of the skirt. Then I took the edges from the middle and folded them outward. I stitched it all down across the top. To cover up the stitching and raw top I hot glued ribbon across it.  It attaches to the dress with snaps.

And here is a picture of the bustle.

Thanks, very cool.  I was thinking about making a bustle, but don't know if I will have time so this may be a great shortcut if I have a bit of time left!  Looks great, you'd never know it was meant to be something else because it looks like it belongs!

Mele blew my mind with her seamstress skills!! I'm sadly, SADLY lacking in that area but I can fake it with the best of them  Wink Poppet only needs a shirt and some accessories to dress them up. And then I need to make the extra and then I can send!! YAY! Hopefully this week (if my money tree produces enough that is  Roll Eyes )

I have everything finished for my partner except the jump ring project. I finished up with the 700 rings I had bought and need to get some more, just like I thought I would Tongue

Holy cow that jump ring project sounds insane. You're not making poppet chainmaile armor are you? Smiley

And good luck IsikkahJai shirts are my least favorite thing to make. I hate the whole sleeves process.

Update - moving on, because I could just keep adding to this dress forever....
I still need one more shoe, a felting needle, hair (in progress), 1 more accessory and the birth certificate.

She's gorgeous. I love her hair. And all the outfits, the bustle is neat. Great sewing. Getting closer to getting mine done.  Cheesy
