I'm a sucker for a doily, even though they aren't my style for interior decoration.  Most of mine are family-made pieces, but this one was in the by-the-pound thrift store bin and I couldn't pass it up.  That was about 2 years ago.  When I saw this tutorial(http://blog.craftzine.com/archive/2011/04/how-to_vintage_doily_easter_ba.html), I realized I finally had a project for this doily: Mom's Easter Basket!

Thanks!  I think this doily will have a whole new life as a seasonal decoration at my mom's house.

Very nice! I love the way the purple flowers are shaped on your basket! I always see cool doilies at the thrift store but I had no idea what I would actually do with them - now I do - thanks for the link!

Thanks!  One of life's best things is that all handmade things are unique in the true sense of the word.

Aren't the violets just so sweet?  They were curly and I just left them to go their own way when they dried with just a minimal amount of arranging them.  I don't think they could've been ironed flat, anyway.  The tutorial shows cute additions of notions and charms, too!

Thanks! I give all credit for the idea to that tutorial I found.  When I next find this style of doily I will not even question buying it, because now I have this wonderful way of making them into something!

Mom did like it, yes.
