I bet when you saw the thumbnail for this one you thought, "how nice, a striped blanket made in the round, ho-hum".

Little did you know (unless, of course, you've been following the WIP Wednesday thread...), this is a special blanket!  I made it by starting from the outside round:

See?

Here's a close-up of the last round, aka the centre!

I've been playing with this technique for a while, and I've usually been doing the centre round as 4 dc5tog stitches, but this time I thought I'd try a rounded centre with 10 dc2tog stitches.

I used Bernat Satin for this blanket, but I lost track of how many balls it took - I think it was about 3.5 of each colour, which are Sable and Sage.  The blanket measures approximately 4 feet across. ^_^

So awesome!  I love the colors.  Is the center hard to work when you've got the rest of it complete?

It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be!  I think the change of plan for the centre round helped!

The trickiest part was the very beginning... 160 dc stitches plus the dc5tog corners.  I was at work when I got them all done and it was time to join the round, and boy did I get a lot of funny looks when I had this long, skinny, noodle-y thing spread out on the table in the break room.

I'm just glad I hadn't gotten to that point on the subway. ^_-

What a cool technique! The finished blanket looks great and I love how you figured out the reverse of the corners- you are so clever!
