I still live in my childhood home. Actually, apart from living overseas I've only ever had one home. That might be an interesting angle.

I saw this post about some Sketchbooks that arrived with no name on them. Make sure yours isn't one of them!

Okay so on the LE I was thinking I would focus my efforts on a few really awesome spreads instead of a bunch of okay spreads, since they will pick one spread to be published in the book. So I thought hey, this would be a great time to do a larger spread that folds down into the book. But then I thought... I wonder how big it can be and still have them scan it for digitizing purposes and, more importantly, for publishing?

They responded to my question, saying they are pretty much only equipped to scan the regular size sketchbook.  Cry

So my response is to see if I can scan it for them and send them the disc with my sketchbook. I hope they are ok with that. I would be really bummed to go through all the trouble of making large spreads and scanning them (scanning one section at a time, stitching them together in Photoshop) only to not get published in the book. The whole reason I paid all that money and am going to go through all the hassle is to get part of my sketchbook published in a book.

I don't need the spread to be absurdly large, I just think it would be nice if it were larger than the original 2-page spread in the sketchbook. And who knows, maybe then it would stand out in the published book because of having a different dimension or something. A panorama scene would be cool, wouldn't it? And that would be so easy to make. Or what about a 12x12 that starts out on scrapbook paper? That wouldn't be too difficult to fold and bind in there. 12x12 would be a nice size layout indeed.

Have you seen any of the sketchbooks that had large fold out pages get digitized and posted on the website? I wonder how they dealt with them?

Update, here's their latest reply...

Hi there,
I wish I had more information for you, but I really don't. I don't know if they will be stringent with the layout and only include the same size spreads, or if they'll accommodate other size/shape images from these books. My best advice is to do some normal spreads too so we have something to work with if we cannot use the larger fold-outs. And yes, if you want to you can scan and send jpegs too, just in case we can use those.
Good luck! Can't wait to see your work.
Very best,
Caitlin

That's not much of an answer  Huh
I don't want to use my best spread idea on a larger spread and have them not use it!
LAME.
