I made this skirt for the skirt swap with my own pattern and details added:




Notice how the pocket expands thanks to the gussets?





Here's a close-up of the exposed lining (and a bit above). See that little frill? It's part of a circle stretched out and sewn into a seam in the gathers part to hang below the ruching.


The distressed gears brought to you by a freezer paper stencil and gold fabric painted on the reverse side. I covered the side I painted with a lining so you can only see the "distressed" side.

This skirt was a ton of fun to make! Yes, there was one night when it almost landed itself in the trash, but the payoff was great!

An added bonus: it was thrift-store fabric! The whole thing cost less than $15 including notions and paint and I had lots of material left over!

Yay for bargins and fun!
