So I saw this skirt: http://www.modcloth.com/Womens/Bottoms/Skirts/-Trail-of-Clouds-Skirt and I thought, "I can make that! It's just tiers. I can make a tiered skirt." But I'm not sure how much fabric I'd need. Can anyone help?

LOTS! Probably like 5 metres. I'd make a test version out of a queen or king bedsheet first and write down all your measurements. Then you can apply those measurements to 45 inch fabric, 55 inch fabric, etc.

BTW, it looks like each tier is wider in the back than at the front. It's not just the lower rear yoke that is giving it the fishtail effect.

Best of luck!

Hm, you're right about the tiers being wider at the back. I hadn't noticed. It looks like the back tiers are tapered on the sides so they can join onto the front ones. I think this skirt is going to more difficult than I thought.  Cheesy
