I have never heard of Overlay Crocheting before either, but that is beautiful. Love the colours and design!

ohh ohh ohh a form of crochet i never heard of before,i've been crocheting for 7 years and thought i had it down i must try it out. any one have any links to a site where i can try it out???

Thanks for the explanation fantasticmio...I tried to google and got patterns that don't make a lot of sense to me (I've only ever done very basic crochet).

I'm enchanted by this beautiful piece.  It's functional.  It's art.  It's been added to my list of 50 things to make/do/learn this year.  I just reserved a copy of "Crochet master class : lessons and projects from today's top crocheters" byJean Leinhauser and Rita Weiss.  Hopefully that's the book you were talking about...  ;-D
