3 contrasting colors make the most impact but this pattern looks amazing with 3 shades of one color especially blue!!! awesome for envelope style purses!
This pattern can be made in any size and looks great running both up and down as well as side to side.
The foundation chain must be in divisions of 20. (20 40 60 so on)
for swatch sample shown-
Chain 20, double crochet in 4th ch from hook and in each across. (18 DC) ch 2, turn
DC in first 2 DC, (ch 2, skip 2 stitches and DC in next 2) across DO NOT FINISH OFF!!!

in last 2 DC set, draw up next color, and chain 2
DC in top of DC in row below ( "tall stitch"

Chain 2, and slip stitch in top corner of last DC bringin third color in to finish the slip stitch.DO NOT FINISH OFF!!!

Draw up color 2 in the slip stitch
Chain 2, turn
Repeat "tall stitch" pattern across.
