A while back I found this amazing tutorial over at No Big Dill...

http://thedillspiel.blogspot.com/2010/09/coastal-curtsy-skirt-tutorial.html

I absolutely adored this skirt!  Knew I would make one for myself (eventually) and I did  Grin

I love it, love IT, LOVE IT!

It kinda has a bustle...

Doesn't it look amazing when it's draped??

On the front, the ruffles run up and down...

On the back, the ruffles run side to side...

Ok, I'm done.  love it

Wow, this an amazing skirt!  I like your choice of color and how the ruffles are placed differently on the front and back.
I'm going to have to make one of these too.   Smiley

To those of you wondering about pre-ruffled fabric...this fabric I used came from www.rufflefabric.co m  It's costly I'll admit.  I also found some on ebay for cheaper and just recently found some on the clearance at Joann's.  ( I believe it had been clearanced out at the wearhouse) So, if you absolutely have to have this skirt, rufflefabric.com I THINK will ship anywhere.  Hope this helps!

And thank you so much for all of the wonderful compliments!!  I can't wait to wear it on Easter in a couple weeks  Roll Eyes

That is really pretty, so romantic-looking. And that soft peachy-pink you used is really nice. I'll have to scope out my local Joanns.

This is gorgeous! I'm pretty sure I need one of these in black lol
I'd have to agree that the fabric is a little pricey though.

I'll have to check out the fabric stores around town. Smiley

Thank you so much for all the sweet comments!    Cheesy   Just an fyi if you try to make this skirt:  Go slow and steady when you sew the seam in the back.  Be sure to shake down the ruffles so they're laying flat.  Otherwise, you'll end up with some ruffles sewn upwards in the seam.  You don't generally notice it, but it bugs me! Wink Good luck!

I purchased the ruffle fabric from www.rufflefabric.co m  It's a 2" ruffle on the skirt...and honestly it is rather pricey.  The fabric itself is nice though.  I have seen 1" ruffle fabric on ebay, and recently on the clearance section at Joann's.  (However, it was clearanced out at the wearhouse, it never was actually sold at my store on the normal racks.)  I did already answer this question somewhere in the first page of comments...you might want to read through them as I don't remember if I put more information there or not.

woops!  i'm so sorry!  i suppose i should have checked through the thread before asking a question that's already been asked   Embarrassed

thank you for sharing that site.  that's actually the only site i came across when i searched for ruffle fabric but i guess i was hoping you might have known of some super secret site with great prices Smiley  wishful thinking, huh?

i'm going to check back through the thread to see if anyone else has dropped a tid bit or two about other places they might have seen this fabric.
either way, your skirt is so gorgeous that it totally looks worth the price of that expensive fabric! Wink
