I think this is technically more paper craft than regular art...if not, please let me know and I'll move it!

Also, my first real project post on craftster!

I made this for mimiw in the Ongoing Wish Swap, based on a pillowcase on her wist/her general love of blue, green, and birds.

Using watercolors (which I really am not very good at) I mixed up a sheet of watercolor paper with all the blues and greens in my little pallet.

Then I made a template of a bird, and traced out approximately a bajillion of them

Then I cut them out by hand.  The way they dried, they were looking....dusty.  So I put a coat of gloss medium on each of them, and happily this brought out the nuances between the colors a lot better!

Drew the wires on a canvas board with a sharpie, and used tacky glue to attach them, I figured it would work better than mod podge on the canvas.

With the leftover bit of colored paper, and one of the birds, I made the card I sent with the package as well.

C&C ABSOLUTELY welcome, this is one of the first projects I've done where I felt like what it looked like in my head is actually what it looks like finished.

Oh, PS, it took all of my willpower not to add glitter to the gloss medium.  I think I'll make one for me now, in pinks and purples, with glitter.  Everything looks better with glitter, right?

I'm so glad you hand cut your birds. No two alike!
