I'm posting here for my partner. She sent me a lovely message about the package I'd sent:

"I am in love with the painting. It looks so authentic! And I love the jewel and feather touch
Thank you so much for everything. I have the little heart keychain on my purse. I love hearts, and I collect key chains(at least I did, had to stop years ago )
I'm going to be wearing the bracelet and ring to my medieval fair on a sunny-no-rain-day.
Again thank you so much"

And here a photos I took before sending out:

The painting detail:

A resin glitter keyring with a crown:

An adjustable Queen Elizabeth ring:

And a charm bracelet... I love this so much I made one for myself!

Now I admit I didn't craft the lovely portrait charms. I bought them from 'maralot' on etsy.
Link: http://www.etsy.com/shop/marlaot?ref=pr_shop_more They are such lovely charms ...although hard to photograph without the glare. LOL!  I love my bracelet & am glad my partner loves hers as well.  Wink

Wow, you're a really talented painter, I Sew Cute! Henry has real character, and the feather is a lovely touch that keeps it from being so serious. And the charm bracelet is a lovely creation.

I'm so flattered by your comments everyone! It really has made my day to read them. I'm so sick & spent half of Saturday in the ER with my girlie who also has a bug...so it's really nice to come back online & see all the love. I was so paranoid that the painting wasn't going to turn out as well as it did.  Smiley

Thank you so much!

I received today! Check out the awesome stuff I got from Wulf!!!

First off the cool note card he happened to find a few weeks ago!

A hand made book of recipies made for the queen!

Inside of the cookbook.

Isn't it cool?!

A portrait that reminded him of my granddaughter.

Isn't it neat? It's on a beautiful blue velvet ribbon so I can wear it 'round my neck.

I believe this is a hand-carved confit box for my treats. Very cool!

Inside:

And these yummy pastilles. I have had them before as well as these rose flavored ones. They are soo awesome! I used to get them when I was a kid.

And finally, my cat Pixie (where I came up with my screen name) checking it all out and giving her approval! lol

Thank you so much Wulf I love it all!

What a delightful swap package! The card is too funny!

I'd love to see a closer detail of the beautiful script in the book! Is it calligraphy? What are some of the recipes for? In my research I had come across a list of dishes from the Tudor period & found them interesting.

The child portrait pendant appeals so much to the mom in me. My DD is a redhead too!  Wink

The little trinket box is so cute!
I love little details folks work into their projects such as decorating the inside as well.

Do those candies taste anything like flowers? I remember having violet gum as a child, but can't even remember exactly what it tasted like. Candy is always a great bonus!

Awesome stuff Wulf!

I received today!!!! Can you tell how truly excited I was???
Here are my wonderful goodies I got from Hgddm.
Firstly, here it all is in the box - I love the cute seal she put on the letter she wrote me Smiley

Awesome Elizabeth cards, stickers and a corset patterns

Embroidered tea towel and jewellery - please excuse the fact the image is upside down! I didn't notice it until after I uploaded it here lol.

A cute cross toy for my kit-kat Bella, a bookmark for my mum, and a cool shadow box. Forgot to do a pic of the inside but the background is King Henry, and pictures of Anne Boleyn in different spots throughout. I have to charge my phone so if I remember to, I'll take an inside pic later.

Last, but most certainly not least - the CORSET! That's right, she made me a CORSET! I'm so freakin' excited about this! This is the back of it:

Please excuse this terribly action shot - I hadn't been long out of bed when I got my parcel and I was so excited I had to take photos of it straight away. As you can see the corset doesn't quite fit 100% but that can easily be fixed. What you can't see is the cute little flower where that little spot of red down the bottom is - such a nice touch! My brother (who is a lot taller than me) took the photo and the angle kinda makes me look even shorter than my 5ft2 height lol

Thank you again for such
a fantastically awesome parcel, I'm so spoilt!!!

I got my package from Mod35tbabe today too!

It's 'Annie B!' I needled Stef into making this doll for me...no pun intended. So cute!

Here are some detail shots of her cute tiny jewelry and headpiece:

Jeweled hairclips and Anne Boleyn-style necklace (gotta find that missing gem!)

Lovely papercrafted art

Extras: cool foil iron-ons and lovely Australia postcard.

Thanks, partner! I had fun swapping with you Smiley

Here are a few extra shots of some of the items I sent to Stef.

Inside of the shadowbox--it's actually a wooden book.

Jewelry

Corset

This was a fun swap. Thanks for hosting, Pixie!

Damn that gem falling off Sad Glad to see Annie B arrived in good health. Anne Boleyn would probably not be thrilled her mini look-a-like has been dubbed Annie B by me, but I think Annie B rather suits her lol.
The Queen Elizabeth almost didn't happen - I had to cut out the skirt and re-draw bits, including her hand, because I stuffed up the stamping and stamped in the wrong place! She worked out in the end though, I rather liked that effort.
Thank you for posting that pic of the inside of the shadow box - knowing me I'd have forgotten all about it and now I don't even need to worry.
A big thank you to Pixie for hosting such a lovely, fun-filled swap, thank you!

Wow, great stuff! I especially like the Elizabeth I card and the shadowbox-book.

I didn't do the calligraphy in the recipe book myself; I found a free font online which does a very good imitation of Elizabethan writing. And yes, the violet pastilles do taste like violets. (I've heard that the entire French town where they're made smells of violets!)

Here's the beautiful stuff Badpuppy made for me. They couldn't be more perfect - it's like she read my mind!

First off, a truly luxurious period shirt. It's made of soft, cool linen, with very authentic-looking braid around the neckband and perfect pearl buttons. (I haven't tried to take an overall shot as it would just be a white blob.) All the seams are finished inside, and it's a joy to wear. A bit wide in the shoulders, but easy to alter. And I like the fact that it fits quite loosely - the period shirts that I've made for myself are rather on the small size, so this is perfect.

Then this great Tudor cap, made of black dupioni silk with a white peacock feather  Cheesy and a white pearl-trimmed braid decoration. Fully lined and a perfect fit. (Which is always such a pleasant surprise, as I've got a big head and hats usually don't fit me!)

Action shot. The sleeves aren't really different lengths - I basted up the shoulders to see how it would look when it was altered, and I think I took one in a bit farther than the other. (Also I'm probably standing lopsided.)

And finally, these three cloth baskets! They're sewn of gold damask fabric, with off-white linen lining. A clever and simple design, and I love them a lot! They're so beautiful and practical, I haven't decided what I'll keep in them. It'll have to be something very special. Also in this picture is the very appropriate sealed letter that badpuppy sent in the package. Not shown is the great glittery tissue it was wrapped in. (Which was revealed in the daylight this morning to have shed glitter all over the sofa. I think I'll enjoy it for a while before I vacuum it up!)

Thanks for this wonderful package. I've been so spoiled!

Wulf

Ha, the first time I put the shirt together the sleeves WERE different lengths!  Only because I put one of the cuffs on wonky though, I fixed it.  Apparently one sleeve just really wants to be shorter than the other. Cheesy

I am in love with that recipe book- what a great idea!  I'm curious too, what are the recipes for?

Hgddm, I can't believe you made a corset, that must have been so much work!  I love the colours in it.

I really like Ann Bolyn's hair, and the cards that went along with her.

Wulf- feel free to decorate the hat further.  I had wanted to put some metal jewelry bits on it but couldn't find any appropriate findings in town.

What a great idea! I can't believe I didn't immediately think of doing that - I've got a couple of sparkly bits that would be perfect.

The recipes have titles like "A Tarte of Spynage" and "To Sowse a Pigge". The spelling is half the fun of some. Others are quite basic, like "To make a Custarde" or "To fry Artichokes".

There are some that I just want to try, like "Conserve of Roses in the Italian Manner:
Take fresh red Roses not quite ripe, beat them in a stone Mortar, mix them with double their weight of Sugar, and put them in a glass close stopped, being not full, let them remain before you use them three moneths, stirring of them once a day. The Stomach, Heart, and Bowels it cooleth, and hindereth vapours, the spiting of blood and corruption of the most part (being cold) it helpeth. It will keep many years."

You never know when you might start spiting blood and need some helpeth!

Don't mind me while I take over this thread for a moment.  I received a beauteous package from our fearless organizer Pixiefirefly yesterday.

I have no photos of the package as it arrived as I was way to excited to think about photos at that point.  Everything arrived all wrapped up in tissue like tiny presents.  My SO actually decided to torture me by texting me at work to tell me my package was waiting for me!  It was cruel I tell you!

In my questionnaire I mentioned my love (aka obsession) with necklaces, and also my love of green, gold, and pearls, and she delivered!

Necklace & earring set #1.  Aren't the gold circles lovely?

Necklace & earring set #2.  I literally had to take these off to photograph them, since I wore them to work today.  The crappy photo doesn't really capture the detail in the gold findings, but they are intricate and lovely.  The crystals are also all very sparkly, which I greatly approve of.  I think the general glow from these confused my camera, as it refused to take a decent photo of this set.

Pixie was super considerate of my metal allergies and used gold earwires.  Yay earrings I can wear!

Next, she included some extras - some gorgeous green fabric with flowers and a sari border, and matching thread (so handy!) and gold trim.  When my man saw these he said, "don't you already own that?"  because it totally looks like something I would buy!  I shall put it to good use.

In my questionnaire I also mentioned that I bring sewing to work, and any supplies to help me do this would be appreciated.  So she sent me this adorable painted wooden box.

WHICH IS A PIN CUSHION!  How clever is this for a portable pin cushion???  I love the luxe fabric she used inside.  The paint also has a subtle sparkle which doesn't come through in the photos.  Very fancy.

And finally, the pièce de résistance, this amazing two strand necklace with a gold heart centerpiece.

I felt like Elizabeth I when I put it on. Smiley  It will look amazing with:

a) the intricate Renaissance gown I now want to make to go with it, and,
b) a little black dress!

Isn't it wonderful?  (Excuse my fridge backdrop, it gets the best light).

Thank you so, so much, Pixie!  I really do love everything and will be getting good use out of all of it.  Also, thank you for organizing this whole Tudor swap business, I've had a lot of fun with it.  Smiley

Wow! The jewelry is lovely! I must come back & gush more over the lovely packages everyone has been receiving, but I'm already late in posting my package that jeannebaby1 made for me. She spoiled me rotten... & I was intimidated at how many photos I was going to have to upload here!  Cheesy

First here are 2 paintings that Jeannebaby1 made! It's Elizabeth & her cousin Mary! I love the colors & also think it's fun that Jeannebaby1 & I did paintings for each other! Neither of us had any clue!  Cheesy Great minds think alike! I'm going to hang these in my bedroom!

Here is the detail from the top of the next amazing thing!

Treasure Boxes with hand beaded ornaments fit for royalty!

Each one has a pillow inside & 2 of them have bonus treasures within!!!
This one has a pendant:

Here is a precious ring with real gem! It fits perfectly Jeannebaby1! I won't have to have it resized!

This has to be one of my most favorite treasures!  It's a sun catcher-rainbow maker window ornament! I only wish the sun would come out here so I can get the full effect! Guess I'll have to wait for Friday when the clouds are supposed to break...finally.

Then here we have some hand beaded key fob/zipper pulls and another little crystal ornament that probably makes rainbows in the sun... c'mon sun!

And last but not least, a roll organizer that is velvety on one side & ties with a ribbon. I put my watercolor pencils & brushes in it & it's perfect!

Thank you so much Jeannebaby1 for the over the top package. I do feel ridiculously spoiled in the best way possible! Thank you!!!  Smiley

Wulf... I want to cross stitch this with a wicked border:

"You never know when you might start spiting blood and need some helpeth!"
Cracks me up every time I read it!

Mod35tBabe ...you're so lucky to get a corset! It's cute on you! The doll you made for hgddm is adorable!

hgddm I love the seal on the letter! Is it really sealing wax or made with something else to look authentic?

Badpuppy...you blow me away with your sewing skills! Wulf looks so dapper in the hat & linen shirt. The bowls are so elegant without looking 'frilly' too... just wonderful stuff!

Pixiefirefly... I love the first jewelry set so much! You really captured the look of the Tudor period with the pearls and the gold circles. Great work!!!

Wow! Tudor overload! I thought we were about done, so this last burst of treasure has been a surprise! Great jewelry, and I love the 3 (three!) jewel boxes. The brush/pencil roll is great too.

You all have done a wonderful job on everything you have all created. You were all so wonderful about communications and we had no flakes! Thank you for making my first swap as an organizer go very smoothly! Maybe we should do another in a couple of months. Seeing how everyone makes such beautiful things I may just do a random draw for partners! lol

Badpuppy, I am very happy to see you really enjoy the items I made for you!

Thanks for being such a good organizer, Pixiefirefly. I didn't realize this was your first one! I got so many good ideas after I sent my package out, I had better make a note of them for the next swap!
