Cyndiq's Cool water bottle tote (includes photos and tutorial)

Hi everyone I make water bottle totes for swaps and gifts and wanted to share how i make these.
I sew them from curtain remnants which are rubber backed as this recycles the fabric and creates insulation. I find it keeps my cold water cool and works well. I didnt use iron on waterproof inside as i only use them for water and things dry quickly in tropical cairns, queensland, australia.

please feel free to make these totes for swaps gifts and you can sell them. just please dont sell my tutorial as this is my own work. Please refer people here to his tutorial thankyou.

sewing tutorial:
1 cut 2 rectangles to fit your size bottle. I cut mine 10.5 inch wide by 11 inch long.
2. cut and sew strap 3 inch wide as long as you want, i iron a 1/4 inch seam and then press together and top sew in half. I end up with about an inch wide strap which i find doesnt cut my shoulder as much.
3. applique your tote with ribbon or design.
4.pin the strap at top edge between both rectangles with right sides facing inside.
Then  sew the top seam.
5. With right sides together sew sides and bottom leaving a gap to turn through.
6 square off bottom corners and snip.
7. Turn bag through hole you left and press, top sew top edge.
 optional you can add a pocket.
Enjoy your tote

i love your simple pattern! i just made a water bottle tote using this pattern: http://pinkchalkstudio.com/blog/2006/07/10/whiplash-challenge-water-bottle-carrier/ and i *love* the results (it's for a swap so I will post it in a few days after it gets to my swap partner) but yours looks quicker/easier. I may give that a try! I did love using the insul-brite so i may do a combo of the 2 patterns.

i have heard of insulbright and used it for making my own fabric lunchbags.
so far this has worked out pretty well for me keeping my water cool while i am out walking the dog or to the shops. i guess if you are planning on going for longer the insulbright would be good.
for my kids poppas for lunch i just make them out of face washers. i will do a tutorial on that soon.
we use eskies in our vehicles here in the tropics on longer trips and just get the water out when we leave the car

i wanted to add you can add iron on pictures to personalize too that looks good.
appliques look good too.
