Queen of Hearts upcycled fairytale sweater coat

This is number two in my collection of Alice in Wonderland themed fairytale sweater coats.  Everyone's favorite, the Queen of Hearts!

Made entirely from recycled thrift store sweaters (except the zipper, thread, and hood lining).

One important lesson learned from the first two coats I did: do not use chenille for the bodice or the waistband. The weight of the skirt is just too much for you and you'll spend twice as much time double and triple stitching to  make sure you don't get any holes than if you'd just used a non-chenille sweater in the first place!

I was oogling over the Cheshire Cat one I saw made by you, I love this one too!
I wish I could pull off something like that, and lived in a place that gets cold enough that I would need a super warm winter coat!

Gorgeous! What fabric did you use for the bodice instead?

This one was before I learned my lesson, so it's chenille.
But any other tightly woven sweater will work better.

Do you mix and match types of sweaters or do you only use woolens? And the back segments look so long; are they all one piece? I wouldn't have thought there were sweaters that long!
