So I've been really busy the past month or so.  I've turned out a bunch of stuff, including these three adorable skirts.  The first two are pretty simple gathered skirts, which each took exactly one yard of fabric.  The last one is a knit pencil skirt that is oh so comfy and includes three seams, all with matched stripes!  It was my first time working with stripes, and while it was annoying, I really appreciate the outcome.  Anyway.  On to the skirts!

Let me know your thoughts.  Oh yea, the first one has pockets!  I love skirts with pockets...
(Thanks to my wonderful boyfriend for the pics otherwise these never would have gotten up here)

Nice work!  I saw that side seam on the pencil skirt - good job.  I've been sewing for years, so I can say that!  All three skirts look great on you.  Sounds like you have a pretty great boyfriend too.

I like them all but I love the first one especially, it's the one I can see myself in! Looks very cool and summery. I like the style of the last one too  Smiley

I love these! Did you use a pattern for the first one? If not could you perhaps share a mini-tute? I haven't made clothing in years but adore that!

Thanks, all!  I'm glad you liked them.  The first two are made pretty much the same, but I kind of perfected my tactics on the second one (all zipper closure instead of zipper and snaps, french seams on the sides, better zipper sewing skills).
They didn't use a pattern, and very few measurements.  The skirt is twice the circumference of the waistband, gathered, and sewn to the waistband with pockets in the side and zipper and snap closure in the back.  The worst part was probably hemming the bottom because it's about two yards around.

The pencil skirt was way easier.  I just cut out two rectangles the width of my widest part plus seam allowance and the length about 18" (the length of the skirt).  I cut the back rectangle in half, sewed it back up with a zipper in it, then sewed the sides.  Then I put it on, inside out, and pinned it so it'd be fitted, and sewed it again.  I didn't hem it because it's knit.  Pretty simple, really cool looking.
