New Collar and Sleeve Edges

Hello So I had this t-shirt, and it's one of those tops that you keep end up wearing but you're never entirely happy with it.

Pros:
1. Nice length and fit

Cons:
1. All-over blue isn't really my thing
2. The collar was too tight

I was thinking about what to do with it, and suddenly realised that I could just replace the collar and line the edges of the sleeve with the same material. I did see a tutorial for the collar-replacement, but I couldn't find it again when I looked... so ty to whoever directed me all that time ago n__n;

I haven't got any before pictures, but here are the after pictures...





I first took the original collar off. I then replaced it with a strip of black fabric from an old strappy top and sewed it into a collar. With the sleeves, I was feeling a bit lazy so I left the original hem and sewed the edging over it. I was lucky enough to find some thread that was the same colour as my shirt so any mistakes with the stitching are hard to see. There is one bit on the back of the collar where it bunched slightly, annoyingly I didn't realise until after but I'm okay with it as a whole Plus, it's one of the first times I've had an idea and it's worked out! The best part about this project was that I didn't have to do any fiddling hemming.

you have done a fab job, it's collars and sleeves that put me off making dresses, top etc mine never seem to lay flat

Oooh... well this is the first time I've really done it so I'm no expert, but if you mean that the collar folds over then I would suggest making sure it's sewn securely on the inside of the t-shirt, and if you mean the collar fabric itself is kinda floppy then you could try putting some bondaweb in to make it more stiff I'm sure there's some good links to help on Google.
