My entry for this challenge was inspired by the book The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell - for those who haven't read it, it's about a small team of interstellar travellers (from earth) led and funded by a Jesuit mission (and which includes a Jesuit Priest) who travel to another planet because their music was heard through space. It's a long and complicated story, but it's beautifully written and speaks to the nature of people when they encounter something that they do not necessarily understand, about learning to love and about the similarities that bind us despite race, creed, colour and even planetary habitat.

The main beads used for the dangles in this necklace has a sparkly kind of floaty texture thing going on, which of course makes me think of space, and when you wear this necklace it kind of bounces and floats and jangles which makes me think of the music that they heard which inspired the whole journey to begin with. Some of the other beads remind me of little planets and the chain represents the similarities that bind us, that despite our differences we are all connected in some small way.

I hope you enjoy it - and I hope that some of you may go and look up The Sparrow because it's a truly fantastic novel!

a couple of detail pictures to show the starry-ness of the main beads and the "little planets" as well...
