which breed would you think will be the first?

Maybe something simple to start off with, like a Labrador. Eventually I'd love to make breeds like the Old English Sheepdog and Borzoi.

look! this girl got a nice Labrador!

hey, we could work together!  Wink

I think a Dashund would be very easy, just training for a big deal!

That would be so fun to do!! Cheesy How cool would it be to eventually crochet EVERY SINGLE dog breed there is? haha it would take forever though.

I remember seeing a book on needle felting different dog breads.  It was awhile ago tho...between 5 and 10 years ago.  And saddly I have no idea what the name of the book might be.

So google says there is this book:

That is not the one I was thinking of tho...UPDATE:  Persistance pays off!

If it doesn't look like any known breed I always can say that it's a mongrel one  Grin

The book "Best in show" by Sally Muir looks awesome, but when I saw her web site I realized it's not crochet  Undecided

I've seen her book in the bookshop on numerous occasions and have always been tempted to buy it, although I do prefer to crochet, rather than knit. I love her creations though.

Maybe you could rent it from the library.  I imagine it would help designing the crochet ones to see how they are done by the knitter or felter.

That's a great idea! Smiley I am not too bad making up my own patterns, but it also helps to know how people go about it themselves. I guess it never hurts to learn from others!
