I'm a volunteer at the National Aquarium in Baltimore. To raise money for Migratory Bird Day, about 50 staff and volunteers took on the challenge of decorating birdhouses. Aquarium staff and the public will be able to buy raffle tickets for the birdhouses at $1 a pop. I am a HUGE octopus lover and I'm one of the folks who feed and care for our Giant Pacific Octopus, Donnie, so I figured they'd make a lovely theme for my house! Acrylic paint on the house and polymer clay for the octos. The flowers in the flower box, and the individual suckers on the octo arms took me the longest. This was definitely a labor of love. I was going for the idea of... lovely, picturesque home overrun by killer anime-eyed tree octopuses. Enjoy!

I love it!!!  Can you buy a raffle ticket if you don't live in the area?

Great project! I  love the idea of guard octopuses =) I'm feeling inspired and now I guess, I have to get clay and make some octopuses to randomly stick on ... well, everything.=)
They are such adorable creatures. It must be a great job caring for them.

The big picture may be amazing but it's the little details that inspire.
