Um... I don't know but it makes a really great challenge entry.  Cheesy  Huh

I'm going to say it's a "Spider-fan Fish".  We see 'em all the time around here.  Yep.  Wink

My daughter insisted she wanted to make a "tabistry", or pop tab, spider together for our entry in this "Back to Basics" challenge weaving tabs together with chenille stem.

She even drew up the plans for it:

We even made it open on top to hold things like candy and such.  (It was going to be a yarn ball holder.  You know, so you don't have to chase the ball around the floor while you're knitting, etc...)

And, here it is again in all its pop tab, pipe cleaner, pompom glory:

However, being a "tabistry" weaving, nut already, I had my heart set on making paper folding fans using popsicle sticks, instead.  So I went ahead and made some:

By now you're probably wondering how this spider became a fish, right?  Or not.  Well, I'll tell you anyway.  Unfortunately, the rules state we can only have on entry.  It was either the spider-fan fish or a "fan-holding spider container".

We opted for the fish.  I think we made the right call.  Don't you?  Cheesy

I think your spider fan fish is pretty awesome!  It's like a character in an anime movie.  My favourite part of your project is the drawing your daughter did!  I love love love how she wrote out shuneal - kids are smarter than the english language Smiley

After checking out Regretsy I'm pretty sure I could sell my stuff on Etsy.

Mine too.  Smiley  She was very insistent that I didn't deviate from the sketch too much.  Wink  We used what we had around, so she had to pick between orange and brown chenille shuneal for the body.  He kinda looks like a pumpkin to me.

Ahh, man!  Why didn't we think of dragon?!  That's way cooler than a fish.

A "Fan-tailed Spider Dragon"!! Now that's a pet to have!  Grin

Ahh well, I'll run it by my cohort when she gets out of school.  Thanks for the comments!

That is awesome!  I wouldn't have ever been able to figure out how to get all those pop tabs attached in such a way that the top opens.

Thanks for the nice comments!

I've had a bit of practice.  We've been playing with tabs for a few years now.  You can make ANYTHING with them.  Smiley

When I craft, I usually strive for functionality of some kind.  Just a thing with me.  Think it somehow justifies the time I use up crafting.  Smiley

...I love the stair shot...

For Halloween, that will probably be "Mr Spagon's" (daughter's new name) home.  Right now he's living in the daughter bedroom.  Smiley
