Tampon roll

I've been browsing this section of the site for a while looking for small projects to do so I can learn my way around the sewing machine. I came across this tutorial for a tampon cozy and decided to try it  http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=281346.0

I don't have much fabric right now, so pretty much none of the patterns coordinate with each other, so I just used a single pattern. I used a pony tail holder in place of using a snap/button since it was all I had.

What great fabric and wow - if you're just learning your way around a sewing machine, you're doing really great.  Your topstitching especially looks fabulous!

Right now I'm struggling with cutting the fabric straight and making the measurements more accurate. I have a self healing mat and a rotary cutter on the way to me though, so I hope that will help!

Oh your rotary cutter and self-healing mat will definitely help!  Do you have a ruler/straight edge?  That helps loads too!
