Thanks to everyone for their comments, I appreciate the feedback immensely Smiley Diane B. those are some great idea's I will definitely try them for my next attempt. The glare was really annoying! I am thinking of doing a psychedelic scene for my next project. Looking to use some coloured clay, I have already started on a few parts, I'll post them when they're done!

Groovy, man  Cool Grin

For psychedelic colorings there are ways to get more-neon colors or even glow-in-the-dark colors with polymer clay. You might want to look on this page at my site for tips about both fluorescent and phosphorescent possibilities:
http://glassattic.com/polymer/translucents-glow.htm (click on Glow In the Dark)

Some of the Neon polymer clay colors are now discontinued (though perhaps Cernit** and FimoSoft still have some*** ...and some of the other brands have individual colors bright and clear enough to be "neons" too).

The old neon clay offerings are here:
http://glassattic.com/polymer/Characteristics.htm (do a Ctrl + F search for the word neon)

There are also special powders/etc that can be mixed into polymer clay (especially translucent clay) to create your own neons, or even some other liquid or paints.

***Premo is in the process of selling off their old stock of neons:
